Importing photographs from a camera into Windows 10

Does anyone know how to import photographs from a digital camera on to a desktop running Windows 10. I think it was an error of judgement downloading Windows 10.

Moved to win 10

Hi Henry,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. Appreciate your interest in using Windows 10.

There are many ways in which photos can be imported to the desktop.

  1. Connecting the device to the computer and transfer.
  2. Can connect the Memory card to a card reader and connect the card reader to the computer.

In order to assist you better, I would like to ask some questions.

  1. What methods have you tried to import?
  2. If you have tried and was unsuccessful, what is the error?

Hope the information is helpful. Please revert with the necessary information and we’ll be glad to assist you.

I am connecting my camera to my Desktop PC via a USB port.

Click on Photos in Life at a glance.

Message is: Couldn't find anything to import from this device.

Go to File Explorer

Click on This PC

I can see my camera is connected

Right click

Click on Import pictures and videos

Message is: No pictures found on this device.

I have since contacted Nikon and received the following:

Copy of the email I received from Nikon:

This issue has been reported both to us and Microsoft Support by many users since Windows 10 has been released. From Microsoft Support forum discussions it seems that it can be solved by installing the Microsoft update below:

Note that we cannot guarantee this will work, however may users have reported a successful outcome:

I do not know how to install the update. There is nothing to click. When I click on the link I go round in circles.

I was unable to get support from Microsoft that would enable me to overcome the problem. I have removed Windows 10 from my PC.

I put memory card in slot on puter.. I tried to open Nikon transfer and it shuts it down .. this is about all I do with this computer and I have lost Nikon subfolder and the ability to upload pics... very frustrated
