I'm an adult but my Microsoft account thinks I'm a child. My Microsoft account won't permit me to correct my birthdate. How do I change my account info to correct birthdate?

I had a hard disk drive failure, replaced it okay, and had to reload Windows 10 on my HP laptop. All went well, except now a parental setting was changed blocking attachments to email, some printing functions, and a few other functions blocked by parental consent. The personal info in Windows shows the incorrect birthdate of a four-year-old. Going into my Microsoft account, it shows the same incorrect birthdate but won't allow editing of the date. I'm an adult but Microsoft thinks I'm a child. What is the method to correct this?

  • If there is no guided message to match your scenario, you may need to contact online support using the "Contact Support" option.

  • For Contact Support option, different categories offer different support options, you will need to select the appropriate category.

For example, for the "Manage account security" subcategory or the "Manage profile information" subcategory, the option "Chat with a support agent in your web browser" is available.
