My laptop has an i5 and a NVIDEA 3050, with both enabled it runs games well but I get an igdkmd64.SYS error when I try to run video, have too many tabs open, or try to connect to a second screen. When I disable the i5, I can run video and use a second screen without the error, but the video is very choppy and games don't run well. I've tried updating both drivers (including hard uninstalling and reinstalling), running the system file checker (no corrupt files), and running the DISM tool, with no luck. I've tried updating to windows 11, and still get the error.
Can you help me either resolve the igdkmd64.SYS error, or optimize the NVIDEA settings so that it can run video on its own without the choppiness?
Thanks for your time.

I'm Paul and I'm here to help you with your concern.
The file "igdkmd64.SYS" is related to the Intel Graphics card driver.
I will recommend the following solutions.
1. Install the latest Windows updates.
2. Use the Intel Driver & Support Assistant to update the driver.
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support...
3. Clean uninstall the currently installed Intel Graphics card driver then download and install the different/older driver from the PC manufacturer's/Intel support website.
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the quick reply. I have installed all the latest Windows updates and installed all available Intel updates using the Intel Driver & Support Assistant. After this, I still got an Igdkmdn64.SYS error when trying to play a video from Netflix.
I have tried the clean uninstall/reinstall of the intel driver previously as well, and it did not help. I'm not sure which of the old drivers to roll back to on the Intel support website, any suggestions?
I appreciate the help.

The recent BSOD error is still caused by "igdkmdn64.sys".
Do you only receive the error with specific apps?
Anyway, can you try to disable the Intel graphics card driver in the Device Manager?
Open Device Manager > click Display Adapters > right-click Intel driver > click Disable device.
Then try to use the PC normally(play videos netfilx) and see if you will still receive BSOD.
Let me know.
Thanks.

Hi Paul,
I get the error most often using Netflix or other video play apps such as YouTube, etc. If I disable the Intel chip, this stops the error from happening, however video does not play smoothly and the computer cannot recognize external displays. Can you tell me how to optimize the computer so it plays video well and recognizes other displays when the Intel chip is disabled?
Thank you for your time.

I think Intel graphics have bug video playing apps.
I will suggest that you try to set a Graphics preference with these apps.
Open Settings > System > Display > Graphics > select Netflix App > click Options > set your Graphics preference to your Nvidia(High performance).
Then try to use Netflix and see if the issue still happens. If not, repeat the steps and set graphics preference to other apps that cause BSOD.
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the suggestion. It does fix the bsod problem, and I can use other video playing sited without problems now. It still won't play Netflix well, it has a lag-and-jump issue every few seconds, but it doesn't do the bsod anymore. Any tips on making Netflix run smoother on just the nvidea card? Thanks!
