Icons disappearing

Win10 Home. My desktop icons have disappeared. The names of the programs are still there, and the programs still run - just no icons, although I cannot read the properties of these programs I tried all the simple things, witth no luck.

Ran 'sfc /scannow' and it found some unfixable errors, so I ran 'dsm /online /cleanup-image/ restore health', and that seem to fix up all the sfc errors. Rebooted and still no icons.

I deleted the icon cache and rebooted, still no icons.

Must be something simple as everything else on the computer seems to run well.

to the above reply. First "Restart the Pc"

and check. if the icons are back

if not. Apply steps below

1) Right-click an empty space on the desktop.

 2) click on the - View - option : From the

context menu to expand the options. 

3) Make sure that “Show desktop icons” is ticked.

If it isn't, simply click it once to ensure it wasn't

causing issues, displaying the desktop icons

Reboot the computer : Did work,.?

Oops,.! I'm sorry didn't pay, enough attention to what

you have tried so far. But give it a shot, may work

if not : Here's another workaround to apply

Rebuild icon Cache in windows 11 or 10 : open File Explorer

> Folder Options > Views to show Hidden System Files.

Now go to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local folder

Delete the hidden iconCache. db file. Reboot

to recover its default icons : Hope this works
