I get this error message " serial port is engaged" how do I correct this

I am using Bernina artista 180 embroidery machine and the software in my PC is Bernina software 6, to communicate with my machine until a few days ago I get this error message "serial port is engaged" I can not send my design to the machine since I got this message. How do I disengage the serial port?

You may try to reload the software that came with the machine. Reloading the software will re-assign the port.
