I get error 'device attached to the system is not functioning' while trying to enable bitlocker

If I try to enable BitLocker on a Windows 7 machine after installing all the Windows updates, it fails with an error 'device attached to the system is not functioning'. If I try to enable BitLocker without installing any of the Windows updates, it goes through without any problem. Since there are hundreds of Windows updates, I'm not able to identify the exact update that is causing this problem.

My current OS image is quite old & I need to create a new image without this related Windows update file. Can some one help me in identifying the exact Windows update file that is not allowing me to enable the BitLocker.

I have encountered the same issue both with 32bit & 64bit Windows 7 OS.
