Where did you get your Windows licence was that pre-installed on the PC or did you purchase a full retail Windows licence from Microsoft or from a 3rd party retailer?

Or is your Windows licence based on a previous Windows 7 or 8 licence?

Click your Start Button, type cmd then right click Command Prompt and choose 'Run as Administrator'

Run or paste this command and hit Enter:

slmgr.vbs /dlv

Battery was replaced and OS was reset/ reloaded with a bootable pen drive.

It was preloaded when the laptop was bought.

Open the activation page in the Settings App, click the Troubleshoot button, then you should be offered the option to select 'I changed my hardware';, select that, then select the PC the licence was activated on and that should allow you to reactivate your licence.

Download the free ShowKeyPlus app from the Microsoft Store.

Please provide a screenshot of that app window and please hide any product key in the screenshot.

Thank you so much for your reply. I downloaded and installed ShowKeyPlus. It gave me two keys with which I tried to activate windows and got error messages. Here are the errors.

What keys did ShowKeyPlus provide, disregard the one listed as Installed Key, that is a generic key, what other key was indicated, was it a Retail or OEM key and for what edition (Home or Pro) of Windows?
