I cannot take ownership of a file in Windows 10

I have tried to modify the permissions and install a registry tweak but I still cannot take ownership and delete the file. What should I do? Hopefully someone answers back as soon as possible, and thank you.

changing permission or taking ownership still not working in windows 10 (even though I have admin rights) - tried take both with gui or takeown in dos box. the reason given is counterintuitive  - "failed to enumerate the objects in the container" - this is EXACTLY the reason for taking ownership ...

I'm having the same issue, with a couple of different folders/files.  I wasn't having this issue prior to the Win 10 "Feature" update released Oct 17th 2017.  I'll update if I find a solution.

Thanks,

Andy

Thanks Time Lady,

I've tried to take ownership using two different Local Admin accounts but, it gives me an "Access Denied" message.  I also receive a message "You do not have permission to view or edit this object's permissions settings."  I've verified both accounts are members of the "administrators" group.  Again, I was able to take ownership of files prior to the "Windows 10 Fall Creators Update".  I may remove the feature update this weekend as it took 30mins to install.  As a side note, I also tried to go up one folder and replace all child object permission's as well.  It resulted in the same "Access Denied" on that particular folder.

Thanks for you help,

Andy

Yep, No error.  It flashed on the screen and then disappeared but, I'm still unable to assign new permissions to the folder or see the owner.

If you now right click on the file there’ll be a new context menu entry ‘Take Ownership’, click on this & allow it to run. Have you done this?
