I cannot run steam game on my dedicated GPU

Hello,

I've tested every thing from display option, power option, nvidia control panel. But nothing work. My game are still runing on the intergrated gpu and not on my graphic card. My driver are up to date. I've desactivated the integrated gpu and run the game, the game does not use the other cpu, it's like if the game does know there is a other gpu. I've also tryed to delete and reinstall the driver but it didn't do anything

The issue seems to be on steam only, i've tryed game on epic games and they run on the right gpu.

I've done both of the technique of this site and it's still does work :

I'am on a laptop, i have a gtx 1660 ti and a intel i7 9th gen, win 10.

Tank you for your time, and have a nice day.

Hi Karel,
I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.
When you select the app are you selecting Steam or the game executable on the Steam folder (Steam\Steamapps\common) ?
If I helped you anyway, It makes me happy.

I am not sure what I might mention about what you are attempting except some systems may be different. But I believe the discreet GPU is meant to run external monitors and may supplement the CPU video in certain circumstances. You can check that by watching the Task Manager and see which GPU is doing the work.

If you do get it to work the way you want, be very watchful of the Nvidia chip temps since they don't have the best cooling configurations.

Satisfactory, civilization 6, monster hunter world. It seems like the game that need steam to be launched wont use the right gpu. Because i have a game on steam that you can via launch via the .exe without steam needing to be started and this game use the right gpu. The game name is realm grinder.

Selecting the game .exe on the graphics settings should fix this, (but you already tried that), select Steam.exe too on the graphics settings and always run Steam as administrator
