I am unable to install Windows Media Feature Pack on my Windows 10 Home

I am trying to set up icloud on my PC but it could not be installed as it says i need the latest Windows Media Feature Pack.

Hence I downloaded from Microsoft for Windows 10 Home version 1709_64 bit after checking my Windows specs. I then got the error msg of ' The update is not applicable to your computer'

What can i do next?

any help is appreciated.

thank you!

Answer

If you are using Windows 10 Home N it doesn't come with Media Player.

That KB3010081 is Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 v1511 and it can't be used with Windows 10 v1709, each Windows version have their own Media Feature Pack.

You can download correct Media Feature Pack from this link (which was already on my original reply).

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/mediafeaturepack

Update = Replace old bugs with new ones.

Tess44,

So you could still see Media Features in optionalfeatures, did you check it at least?

Hit Windows key + I to go into Settings, then navigate to Apps > Manage optional features, then click Add a feature. Provided you see Windows Media Player, click that, then click Install.

Keep me posted.
