I am having issues with opening several applications, including Task manager, command prompt, registry editor, and running system configuration as administer. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Hello,

As stated in my question, I am having several issues with running applications on my gaming computer. I built this computer and have been using for the past 4 years with no issues on Windows 10. Today, I ran into several issues, starting with the task manager. The shortcut icon shows up on the lower task bar of my screen, however anytime I attempt to open it this way, or try to open it using CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+ENTER, I get the error "user/(my user)/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/internet Explorer/Quick Launch/User Pinned/Task Bar/Task Manager.ink The Specified module could not be found. After going through a rabbit hole of attempting to fix, I found several solutions that seemed to work. I first started with looking on this community page and found one that had the same error. The first step was to go into the Registry Editor. Once I attempted to open this application, I was given a new error stating "C:/Windows/regedit.exe The specified module could not be found". I cannot remember the exact order after that, but I am now looking at several errors on my screen each stating the specified module could not be found.

Ex of the list "C:/Windows/System32/cmd.exe"

"C:/Windows/system32/msconfig.exe"\

And I had one pop up on its own stating the exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occurred in the application at location 0x0000000076581722. In the top left of the error it states "Razer Central.exe - Application Error.

I tried to look further into this issue by running AMD Software - Adrenaline edition to see if I needed to update my driver, as I have had issues with the computer slowing down if I waited too long. However this is giving me an error stating " The version of AMD Software that you have launched is not compatible with your currently installed AMD graphics driver."

In the mean time, I started a full windows security scan that is running in the background, and yet to finish. The normal scan stated it was done "less than one minute ago" when I checked originally and stated everything was clean.

I am running out of ideas and running into dead ends each community post I read. Each one leads me to open an application that "could not be found".

I was reading that more than likely there is a missing DLL file on start. With that, I followed the steps to restart my computer in safe mode. I did this, and it did not appear to have any change after re-attempting to open the applications.

Please let me know if there is anything else you may suggest to do on my own.

These are the components of my computer if that helps at all,

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-core processor

Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max Atx Am4 Motherboard

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (4x8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory

Hi, Brandon9876

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you are experiencing an inability to open Task Manager, Command Prompt, Registry Editor, and System Configuration Tool. The error message is “The specified module was not found”, as well as errors from Razer Central and AMD software. You mentioned that the system has been working fine recently, and then suddenly today it is having problems. This could mean a corrupted system file, malware infection, software conflict or driver issue. The module mentioned in the error was not found, possibly because the system files are missing or corrupted, or the path has been incorrectly modified.

Considering your situation and the options you have already tried, it is recommended that you try the following options:

I.Repair the system using Media creation tool:

This will be a non-destructive system repair, it is not a reinstallation of the system, normally installed applications do not need to be installed again and the system will be updated to the latest version, but if there is important data inside the computer, we still recommend to backup in advance.

Once you have completed the backup, follow the steps in the guide below:

1. Visit the site below and click “Download Tool Now” (not “Update Now”) to download Media Creation Tool.

Download Windows 10 Run the MCT tool, select Upgrade this computer now, and select Keep files and applications.

2. For detailed instructions on the above steps, you can view the video tutorials at the link below:

Disclaimer: At this point, we have exhausted all troubleshooting and I recommend that we try to perform a clean install to get your computer back into a working condition. Please ensure that you backup any important data, including Documents, Pictures, Videos, and more. After that, you can find instructions on how to install Windows 10/11 in the following article by MVP Andre: How to: Perform a Custom Installation of Windows 11 and Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

2. Reinstall the correct driver:

-Visit AMD website to download the latest driver according to your graphics card model (make sure to choose the version that matches your system).

III. Handling Razer Central Errors

1. Uninstall Razer Synapse or related software:

IV. Scan for Malware

Use Windows Defender or a trusted third-party protection software to perform a full scan of your system to eliminate virus and malware threats.

If the problem persists after you try the above options, it may be a physical damage to the hard disk or a serious failure of the core system components, it is recommended to contact a professional repairer.
