Huge padding in List View

I'm already tired of asking this to your support but after 22H2 on Win11 there is a huge padding on the left side of the folders in List View. It's been confirmed 3 times to me from your support that it's a bug and that it's a design issue. No one seems to care. When is it going to be fixed?

Hello Georgi,

If you have check boxes below turned on, it'll add extra spacing to the left of items.

If you haven't already, also see if turning on compact view in File Explorer may help if line spacing may be adding to this.

Turning off the checkboxes shifts everything left by the width of the checkbox in all views and that brings everything tight to the left margin in Details, Icons (except small), and Tiles views.

However, there is a significant, unnecessary, additional gap to the left of all items in List, Small Icons, and Content views. That's the issue the OP (and I) wish to see fixed.

That's exactly the issue. For some reason I've contaced Microsoft support 3 times and it takes me about 45 minutes every time until the support understands what the issue is. They are giving me the same answers as the first reply here. Today I did a chat with some support guy who told me "Well, post it in the forums". It's pretty frustrating. I'm misclicking all the time, and also it looks very weird and is a huge waste of space.

It was introduced a good six months ago with 22H2, as noted in this discussion.

All we can do is submit our reports and complaints via the Feedback Hub (press -F in Windows).

Well, there are more serious bugs in Windows 11 File Explorer (i.e. broken functionality) that go back nearly two years, so I wouldn't hold my breath on this one.

Do make a report in Feedback Hub. That's the official way to report an issue. This forum is essentially user to user.
