Greetings everyone,
To start with, I am using an ASUS ROG Strix gaming laptop, 24Gb Ram, 4 TB SSD combined, Win11 23H2 update with patch as of 12/23/2024.
I am seeking information on:
How to re-enable the ability to use sub-directories in Personalization>Background>Slideshow.
In all versions of Windows, from 98 until 11-22H2, I've been able to select a folder and uncheck sub-folders (98) or click Start > Settings > Personalization > Background > Slideshow > Browse > select parent folder (win 10 + 11) and it would cycle through all images in the resulting folder, whether that was parent or parent/sub and etc....
It's not a windows update issue, otherwise it would have been resolved when I upgraded to my 4 TB's of SSD and re-installed Win11.
There was a previous solution which partially worked while using 22H2, which was
1) Enable libraries
2) Run a script through powershell,, not exact, but something similar to the lines of:
2a) explorer shell:::{ED834ED6-4B5A-4bfe-8F11-A626DCB6A921} -Microsoft.Personalization\pageWallpaper
This no longer works now as I have 23H2 and a dedicated storage drive, which means I have moved and sorted all files from C:\users\(user)\OneDrive\Pictures to E:\(user)\pictures.
Wherein now lays my issue, I need Personalization > background > slideshow to use E:\(user)\pictures and all related sub-folders, but all it wants to use is E:\{user)\pictures.
As a shared computer with separate users, no one wants to have a shared Library of "pictures" or "photo's" though.
