How To Use Correct Microsoft Account

Hi,

I have been going around in circles trying to change the Microsoft desktop to my personal desktop. For some unknown reason I have a few accounts:

  • taroc, Local Account (Administrator) Standard | I have a pin for this account created by Microsoft that I've been using on Chrome.

  • Owner - Tarock, Local Account, Administrator, Password Protected | This account should be the one I would like to use on Chrome.

  • Administrator, Local Account, Administrator | This account should be deleted.

  • *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, Password Protected | This account should be deleted.

So many accounts are making it impossible to do anything. How do I straighten this out, because currently I'm unable to get to my personal desktop.

Can I transfer the taroc, Local Account pin, to Tarock, Local Account so I only have one Administrator account for everything?

Thanks,

Tess

Answer

You must logon to the one account that has "Administrator" privileges. Then, launch the "Users" app, to remove any/all of the other accounts, and to (optionally) permanently delete all the files associated with the selected account.

A pin, like "face ID" on an iPhone, is just a "shortcut" to more-speedily logon. If you delete a pin for an account, then you'll need to logon with the ID/password for that account.

P.S. There do exist "file-recovery" utility apps that can try to recover "deleted" files from a disk-drive (not from a SSD).

Think of removing the Table of Contents from a book, and scattering all the pages of the book. If you have a lot of patience, you can read each page, and decide to what chapter each page belongs, and the order of pages within a chapter. An app would do something similar -- read every byte from the disk-drive, and re-order the pages, and will write the reordered pages to a brand-new disk-drive, to "recover" some of your files.

Good luck!

Turn the computer off, then turn it back on.

Then sign into user you want to keep, which is: Owner - Tarock

You should be able to remove taroc.

As I mention, you cannot remove Administrator, because it is the system build in admin. You need to use the command method I already shared with you to disable it instead.
