Hi Madam, that should be no problem, we just need to work out the correct RAM!

What is the exact Model No. of your Dell Inspiron - that will be printed on a sticker on the bottom casing of your laptop . . .

You need to contact Dell to find out if your machine can upgrade to 16gb.
This is a hardware issue not windows.
Below is a link for their support site. Good luck.

Hey Madan. This is not a Windows issue or Microsoft issue but I'll try to help.

To go from 8 GB RAM to 16 GB. You will have to actually purchase COMPATIBLE 16 GB sticks of RAM then install them. Dell Inspiron might have more information on what kind of RAM is compatible with your PC.

Getting more RAM is not a simple troubleshooting fix and if you are on a laptop, it might be impossible.

Hi Madan,

Go to www.crucial.com - and run the scanner. It will tell you what the maximum amount of ram you can upgrade to, what type of ram you currently have, and what you need.

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

When you get that info, you’ll then purchase the ram, and install it in your machine. What’s the exact model of your inspiron, i could find you instructions online, I’m sure.

Let me know!
