How to uninstall Acer Cloud Client

I am running Win 10 on an MSI PC.

For some reason, Acer Cloud Client is on my PC (in the X86 folder) and I am unable to uninstall it in the usual way (because it's in the X86 folder, I presume) or even delete the files (here is says 'folder in use' no matter what I try).

I do not want this program because it uses huge amounts of space and power and I see no material benefit. This isn't even an Acer machine and I don't use any other Acer programs.

Please tell me how to get rid of it.

Thank you

Hi JennieHarborth1, I am Paulo. I'm an Independent Advisor and an individual like you inclined to help.

Have you checked if it is running in the background before you uninstall it? Right-click on your taskbar then choose Task Manager. Under the Processes tab, check if the app is running. Right-click on it then select End task if it is.

If that didn't work, you can try using this uninstall troubleshooter which is an old tool from Microsoft, and see if it can detect and remove the app. Choose Uninstalling and it will scan the apps installed.

Hi Paulo,

Thanks for coming back to me with your advice.

Ever since I discovered it was Acer Cloud Client that was causing my problems, I have periodically ended the task under Task manager as it was the only way to stop it because I could not find a way to uninstall or delete it. I say periodically because every so often it just starts up again and I have to end it again.

So, when I tried again to uninstall it today, it came up with the same message as before - that the program folder was open, even though I had ended the task and closed down all my open apps and docs.

So now, I checked again that the task was ended, then I downloaded the program you suggested, but it can't find the program (probably because it's in x86).

When I chose the 'not listed' option, it said I should enter the Product code which I obviously don't have as I never installed Acer Cloud Client in the first place.

So thanks for your suggestions, anyway.

Best wishes

Jennie

Hi Jennie,

I'm Anwille, an Independent Advisor.

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

I would recommend to uninstall the program fully using a 3rd party app such as Revo uninstaller or CCleaner.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need more assistance.
Regards,

Hi Anwille,

Thanks for coming back to me.

I had already tried CCleaner but it also does not see the program (probably because it is in x86). I tried to download Revo but my antivirus went into a panic saying it is dangerous so I was a bit wary of continuing.

Can you think of any other similar program that my antivirus might be happy with?

Many thanks.

Jennie

Hi Anwille,

Thanks for the other option. I tried it (the Force uninstall option ) and while it went through the motions of deleting and it said it had deleted all the files, the files were still all there.

So I tried to delete it with Bitdefender but it said I had no permissions, so I tried the advice here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WX2hx_DfigA and it seems to have stopped the program starting up, though it's still there.

Thanks anyway.

Jennie
