How to sign in the Microsoft account

I just took my Surface book 3 for repair. The repair shop reinstalled Windows, but there was no user account set up. When I tried to log in with my old Micorsoft account, after entering my current Microsoft password, a dialog appeared asking me to enter the existing Widows password one last time. However, I don't remember that Widows password.

Hello ChauTran,
This is Riaz H, an independent advisor.
I can understand your concern and am sorry for the inconvenience.

Since your Surface Book 3 was recently repaired and had Windows reinstalled, it looks like Windows is asking for your old local password before fully linking your Microsoft account. If you don’t remember it, don’t worry—there are a few ways to get around this issue.

1. Try Your Old Passwords
Windows might be asking for the local password you used before signing in with your Microsoft account.
If you had a PIN or password before, try entering any previous ones you remember.

2. Check for a "Forgot Password" Option
Sometimes, Windows will give you the option to reset the password on that screen.
If you see it, follow the steps to reset your password through Microsoft.

3. Create a Local Account First
If Windows won’t let you sign in, you might need to set up a local account first:
Restart your Surface and choose "Set up as a new device" instead of signing in with a Microsoft account.
Create a temporary local account (just give it any name and password for now).
Once you're logged in, go to Settings > Accounts > Your Info, and choose "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead."
Enter your Microsoft account details, and it should link properly.

4. If You're Locked Out, You Might Need to Reset Windows
If nothing works and you can’t get past the login screen, you may need to reset Windows:
Turn off your Surface and press the Volume Up button while powering it on to enter the UEFI menu.
Look for a Recovery option, or if you have a Windows installation USB, you can reinstall Windows from there.

Since the repair shop reinstalled Windows, they may have set it up in a way that’s causing this issue. If you’re stuck, you might want to check back with them and see if they can help. Let me know if you need more guidance! Thanks
