How to show other user account in windows 8.1, not just the administrator account

Hi,

Previously I have WIndows 8 and recently upgrade it to windows 8.1. But I don't know somehow, the other user account is not shown on the login screen, only the administrator account. When I check the user accout, i still have the other user, but cannot show it on the login screen. I've already search on the net and try some advice, but not work at all. Try to add more user as administrator and standart user, but not help and still not shown on the login screen. Is there someting wrong with my PC? My administrator account connect to outlook. Many thank's for the help..

Hi Arie,

1. What troubleshooting steps have you tried?

2. Do you find an arrow facing towards left side next to the user account?

If you do not find the arrow next to the user account then the other user accounts on the computer might have been disabled.

To fix this you may need to check if all other user accounts of the computer are enabled, if not you have to enable it manually.

Follow these steps:

a.       Press “Windows key + X” from the keyboard.
b.      Select “Computer Management” option from the list.
c.       Select “Local Users and Groups” option from the left panel.
d.      Then double click on “Users” folder from the left panel.
e.      Her you will find all the users listed.
f.        If you find an arrow mark facing towards down with that user account then those user accounts are disabled.
g.       You may have to enable those accounts manually.
h.      Right click on those accounts and select “Properties” option.
i.         Select “General” tab.
j.        Remove the check mark next to “account is disabled” option.
k.       Click “Apply” then “Ok” to save the changes.
l.         Now try to sign out from the current user account.
m.    Restart the computer and check if all the user accounts are listed.

I hope this helps you to fix the issue. If you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.

Hi Karthik,

Thank's for answer. I've follow your step, but still the other account not shown up, just the administrator account in this case 'Arie Mustofa'

All the account in my PC

In the login screen, just the 'Arie Mustofa' shown. There is no back arrow or something like that I used to in Windows 8 when I want to change the user. Any further help is needed. Thank's..

Hi Arie,

This issue might occur if the user accounts are removed from the Local users and Groups policy. Follow the steps and check if it fixes the issue:

  • Press Windows+X keys and select Command Prompt (admin).
  • Type the following command and hit Enter:

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose

  • Hit Enter, restart the computer.
  • Press Windows Key + R, type lusrmgr.msc, click OK.
  • Now click Group section, right click on Administrator and pick Add to Group.
  • Click on Add option in the next window.
  • Then in Select Users window, click on Object Types.
  • Now in the following window, select Users and uncheck other options here. Click OK.
  • After clicking OK, we’re back to Select Users window. Now click on Advanced option.
  • On this window, click Find Now. From Search Results, look for the user name not appearing on logon screen / Start Screen user name drop down menu. Click OK. Again click OK.(Follow the same steps for other user accounts as well).

Now reboot the system an your issue should be fixed now!

Please let us know the results.
