How to see remaining battery life in hours or percent?

All I see is a battery icon in windows 8 Rt metro interface but it's not easy to estimate remaining battery life with a small icon like that. Every other tablets tell you how many hours are left or how many percent is left. I have been searching for 2 days for a setting option and find nothing. This OS is far from intuitive and I wonder if I am not better to return the tablet, thing like that should be easy to set.

You can see this by click the WinKey Button on your keyboard, this will switch you to Desktop Mode. In the bottom right will be your system tray where you will see a battery.

Just hover over to see remaining Hrs.&%

Hope this helped.

But I do not want to switch user interface just to see battery life remaining, this OS is a real joke, I had high hope of a perfect tablet and the more I use it, the more I hate it. I also paid 15$ to upgrade my Asus G75 to windows 8 and I am removing this **** right now and going back to 7. I was a windows fan and used to hate apple, but my next pc wont be a windows 8 one for sure.

Its one of the things in hating too. I want to see the battery details and time on the start screen or at least the battery % without switching to desktop mode.

Actually your post is only 50% correct, as the desktop mode icon still wont show you the estimated time left, only remaining percentage.

I agree 100% with you guys.. It's so simple but would make things so much nicer having a better battery indicator. I looked all through the app store and nothing. I do like windows 8 however, some things more than others. I like the charm menu, the live tiles are cool, touch screen is a must however. Also I want everything to run off metro? I don't see the point of having to switch to desktop EVER.

MS never admitted this is actually a bug instead of a "by design", so as long they dont admit, they wont of course fix it.

Isn't there somekind of a mod to change the icon to also show percentage?
I think it's pretty easy after you find the right files.
This thing really bugs me as well, maybe Microsoft will fix this in Windows Blue which going out in a few days from now.
I really hope they do.

I think apart from this lonely forum thread, nobody is aware that such issues exists. So MS is not bashed by the same amount of masses as for example after the XBOX one DRM restriction, so that they had to change their mind. Blue will not change anything regarding this.

I'm on Surface RT, and I'm always trying to check the percentage when I open the charms menu. Then I just see the battery, I'd love if Microsoft just has an option in the 'PC Settings'. I hate having to go to the desktop to look at the percentage.
