How to retrieve an unsaved word pad document

I know that everything we type and do on the computer is retrievable some where or somehow (hoping so). How do I find a word pad doc I was typing but was not saved using Win8.1 the power button was pressed, and the system went down. Is there an auto save or can i go into the history some where and find it? Kids are just great when they push "shiny buttons" Yikes Help!

It is quite unlikely that you will be able to recover the information unfortunately. Wordpad doesn't include any recovery features that I am aware of, although others like Microsoft Word do.

Unfortunately - you don't.
  
I suggest you start using something with autosave features *and* saving (using a quick key) periodically in the future.

Find lost word pad document after computer blew its on-line screen by going totally black all by itself.

Connect to a different screen or remove the drive and put in an USB case and connect to another system.
