How to import pictures from a CD/DVD in Windows 10

How can I import pictures from a CD/DVD in Windows 10?  I have clicked on PHOTOS; then IMPORT, but the message I got was "connect a device" and "connect the device that you want to import from, and make sure it's turned on and unlocked."  Where do I go from here? What is the device that it is referring to?

  1. Create a Windows folder.
  2. Insert the disc so it shows all the pics.
  3. Single click on one to highlight it.
  4. Use Ctrl+A to highlight them all.
  5. Drag the highlighted pics into the Windows folder.
