Hi Echo,

a lot of devices have two layers on the screen nowadays

If the device is touch screen, the outer layer is called a digitizer screen and the inner layer is called the LCD screen

If the device is not touch screen, the outer layer is generally toughened glass and the inner layer is the LCD screen

Your LCD screen is broken, you will need to purchase a new LCD screen. If it is 15.6" or less, they are available on the web for less than $30

What is the maake and Exact Model of your system - that should be printed on the bottom casing . . .
