How to find Product key for Windows 8 and 8.1?

Original Title: I need a product key for Window 8 and 8.1

Hello everyone,

I purchased a used laptop with window 8 and later upgraded to window 8.1 through store. How can-I get the product key because the window 8 was not having a product key

Hi Emmanuel,

Please be assured that we would do our best to assist you.

The Product Key on a computer that has Windows 8 pre-installed is embedded in the BIOS on the motherboard (it’s called OA3 activation). There is no longer any sticker with the product key.

When you upgrade to Windows 8.1 from the Store, the activation will be automatic and use the embedded product key.

You may contact the computer manufacturer for further information about the Product key.
