How to find my bitlocker recovery key with a recovery key ID?

My Dell laptop got locked out yesterday after Microsoft did some sort of upgrade. My computer is stuck on the page where they ask for a bitlocker ID. I checked everywhere and it appears that it was never uoploaded to my Microsoft account.

I read that MBAM uses a unique volume ID as the identifier for each disk volume to store BitLocker recovery keys. However, if imaging procedures are performed incorrectly, the volume IDs may not be unique in some cases. When this problem occurs, BitLocker recovery keys for some disk volumes are missing in the MBAM recovery database.

Can I find my bitlocker ID with a recovery key ID to identify it?

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

If your drive is encrypted with Bitlocker, the only place the Bitlocker Recovery key is automatically stored is on the associated Microsoft account on the link below, be sure to check any Microsoft account that may have been used on the PC and also any work or school account that may be linked to the PC.

I tried every email I could think about with no luck! Are these bit lockers supposed to be uploaded automatically on your account?

The Bitlocker key is supposed to be automatically stored on the associated Microsoft account online.

If you are unable to find the Bitlocker Recovery Key on any account, do you have a backup of your files, or use any cloud service like OneDrive... etc. to sync your files online?

I wish I had been more diligent about backing up my files. Even though I have One Drive, very little has been backed up because I didn't update what to back up. And the Bitlocker recovery key is not on my account! Could it be a glitch from Microsoft?

It may be a glitch, but usually not, you can try contacting their support to see if there is anything they can do to help you, but honestly I doubt it, the Bitlocker key is private to your account.

If you cannot find the Bitlocker Recovery Key, this is a bad situation, the only way to remove the encryption form the drive is to create a bootable Windows 10 USB on another PC, then use that to clean install Windows and at the start of the installation, delete all partitions on the drive, which will sadly result in loss of all data on the drive.

Do you know how to reach their support by any chance? Their after sales service is really bad, you can't talk to anyone.

Their support is very hard to contact, if you cannot find a local number for them, on another PC, open the Get Help app and repeatedly ask the bot in that app to 'Speak to an Agent', you may eventually get a link to speak to their support via live chat.
