How to Disable Adaptive Brightness in Windows 10

Hi,

There many articles on "How to Disable Adaptive Brightness in Windows 10"

Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change plan settings -> Change advanced power settings -> Display -> Enable adaptive brightness.

But my Windows 10 doesn't have an option "Enable adaptive brightness".

Which version of Windows 10 is currently installed? See how to verify:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wik...

In Windows 10 1809, click Start > Settings > System > Display
Uncheck 'Change brightness automatically when lighting changes'

Hi Wise
Greetings! I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

Yes, this has been taken off from Power Options in 1809. But there are other methods to enable / disable this.

This might actually be a hardware limitation or you need to update your drivers to support it.

I see some important updates for this make and model I recommend you apply:

BIOS Update May 2019
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp96001-96500/sp...

Also...

Press Windows key + X
Click Device Manager
Expand Display adapters
Right click the current display adapter
Click Properties
Click Driver tab
Click Rollback driver if the option is available

If not
Right click the current display adapter
Click Uninstall
Check the box that says, "Delete the driver software for this device.”
Exit Device Manager
Restart

Click Start > Settings > Update & security > Windows Update > Check for updates
Download and install any pending updates
Restart your computer

Hello,

The option Enable adaptive brightness is only available on systems with light sensor equipped, typically laptops. Additionally, you must have compatible video card installed to support this feature. So if you're missing the option, it may be possible that you do not have supported driver or video card installed.

In some cases (not all), you can try changing video card to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and it may help you to configure the Enable adaptive brightness option.

Regards.
