How to delete Suggested Sites in Win 10 Edge

When I right click Suggested Sites in the Fav Bar, a "delete" window appears, but, clicking delete does not delete the Suggested Sites from the Favourite Bar.

If I open up Favourites, then  the Favourites Bar, and right click the delete window for Suggested Sites-this doesn`t work either.

The Suggested Sites does nothing, (it certainly doesn`t show me a list of suggested sites), and takes up valuable space in my Fav Bar.which is why I want to rid myself of it.

Hi Barrier Lee,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. Your interest in Windows 10 is much appreciated.

Method 1:

I suggest you clear the Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

  1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Edge.
  2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
  3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Method 2:

If you are using any Proxy connection, then try disabling the proxy connection and check.

Follow the steps to disable proxy:

            1. Click the Settings icon at the top right corner in internet explorer.

            2. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.

            3.  Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.

            4. Uncheck the box next to “proxy server for your LAN”.

            5. Click on OK to save the setting and close window.

Now check the issue.

Hi Annu,

Neither worked.

Proxy server for LAN wasn`t checked, and after I carried out Step 1 I couldn`t get Edge or IE11 to load. And none of my Bookmark bar links worked. After carrying out a reboot I got Edge back , and the links were working ,but of course my most used sites had cleared. And I still couldn`t remove the Suggested Sites.

Although this Suggested Sites is annoying, because it never shows any suggested sites, and I can`t get rid of it, I think I`ll just leave "well enough alone!"

Regards,

David

I too have this issue!  Several days ago I reported to MS that the moment I imported Favorites and enabled the Favorites Bar, 95 Suggested Sites tabs materialized.  Since I could not find a way to remove them or disable the feature, I went and right clicked>"Remove" each individually, however, tab #81 (I initially started doing it randomly) and a tab that states Suggested Sites remain and both ignore "Remove!"  In Internet Options, suggested sites is disabled, however, I O appears to have nothing to do with Edge.  x64 PC!  Thank you!

I have the same issue with Windows 10 edge browser!

Please correct and provide a fix asap.

In my favorites bar have not only "Suggested Sites" folder but  "Suggested Sites2" "Suggested Sites3" "Suggested Sites4" and none of them can be deleted or renamed.

When will it end???

Also, how to place a "Home" button on the Edge bar??

I have the same problem, a row of useless "suggested sites" boxes which do absolutely nothing and will not remove. I currently have 10 boxes with different numbers in each.

I do NOT want sites suggested to me! I know what I want and will do my own search.

I phoned MS about it and an "Expert" take over my PC. He faffed around for 45 mins before giving up and pulling the plug on me. I tried to regain contact through the chat box which still open but he refused to answer me and switched that off after 10 mins!

Here it is the 4th October, and Microsoft still haven`t resolved this issue. Like other small problems I have had from time to time, MS just seem to ignore the issue. It would help if they at least  acknowledged  a problem and say they are working on it.But nothing!

Have you tried resetting the browser and or going through settings and seeing where this feature is enabled, (it would have to be in setup must like IE I would gather)?

I don't know why the script readers keep suggesting Proxy LAN settings for basic browser setup but c'est la vie. If all else fails use IE 11, it's there for you already.
