How to delete previous Windows search history in Windows 7?

when searching through music folders and such, how do I stop my pc from showing and keep history of prevous searches?

Hi lestatdavis,

 

You can remove an item from the Search box by highlighting the item (using the mouse, or Up/Down keys) and then pressing the DELETE key.

 

To clear the entire Search History using the registry editor directly, follow these steps:

 

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, see Back up the registry

 

a.     Click “Start.”

b.     Type “regedit” in the “Start” search box and hit “Enter.”

c.     Navigate to the the following key:

 

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\WordWheelQuery

 

d.     Right-click the “WordWheelQuery” branch and click “Delete.”

e.     Exit the Registry Editor.
