How to add websites to allowed/block filters in Family Safety

Original title: Windows live family safety

I am using family safety to monitor my kids PC and I would like to block some website that they could use to download free movie.

I am going to web filtering -> allow or block list & I would like to know what I should type so they do not have access to some websites.

Is there a way I can list the sites without to have to specify all the extensions they have - for example watch32 could be watch32.com, watch32.biz,...etc

Can I type *.watch32/* and it will block all of the possibilities or do I have to specify all the different extension to block the sites? (e.g. */watch32.biz/* & */watch32.com/*  )

Please help me so I know what to specifically type in the box - see attached - also I noticed sometimes in the blocked websites list - some website have a star at the end & other do not even though I typed "/*" at the end - any idea why and will it block the site if there is no "/*" at the end?

Thanks,

Florence

Answer

Hi Florence,

To add a website, you need to enter complete domain name. For example: On the filter settings, add 'watch32.com' separately or add 'watch32.net' to get the filters to work properly.

To help prevent your child from seeing certain websites or chatting online, go to the Family Safety website and choose an appropriate filtering level for your child.

Type or paste the web address of the site that you want to allow or block into the http:// text box and click Allow or Block.

You can use  the drop-down list next to the http:// text box to allow or block a website for just the current child or for multiple children or family members.

How do I prevent my child from seeing certain websites or chatting online?

Family Safety groups many websites into categories that are designed to save parents time. Some examples of categories are: Child-friendly, Social networking, and Adult content. Instead of entering individual websites on the Allow or Block lists, parents can rely on categories to control what children can see. If the parent chooses a web filtering setting that blocks a website category, the child won't have access to sites in that category.
