How to Activate Windows XP Guide!

Even though Microsoft has ended support for Windows XP, there are still reasons people like yourself and myself need to use it. Upon finishing the installation you will have to activate it, which is cumbersome but very easy.

On the activation page where you will either have a 6 or 7 digit number sequences you need to give to a "rep", you will have an option to call. Select the toll free US number if you are from the US. When going through all of the prompts DO NOT select the option where they send you a link! The link gives out errors and will ask if you want a rep to call you and that rep will send you to these forums, which is hardly useful.

Instead stay on the line and then you will begin the slow process of telling the "rep" your activation codes. Once they are confirmed you will be given your access codes, I would select the option where they text them to you. Keep them on the phone while you input your access codes. Once that is completed you are on your merry way!

This activation by phone applies to Windows 7 too. I wrote down the numbers and attached it to the computer for future use (reinstalls) if needed. Not sure if I could reuse the activation numbers or not.

hello... this morning 230106, i tried to use the phone activation service... it was tedious, but i was willing to put up with that to get the activation of completely legit, purchased, previously used, and with product codes version of XP home edition... the "text to the number you are calling from" (canada, in this case) did not work for either the "link" or the activation code... i tried 3 times choosing different options and the "rep" attempted to give me an activation code, but only provided 6 of the 7 required code numbers - so the activation failed... since support for XP has ended long ago, the support rep i spoke to guided me to this site... i'm still working on getting an activation code that works.

I used the automated "send me a link" service yesterday to successfully activate XP Home, Vista Ultimate, Vista Home Premium, and Windows 7 all without talking to a real person.

I used the number found at this link. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/-telephone-activation-is-no-longer-supported-for-your-product-error-when-activating-office-9b016cd2-0811-4cb3-b896-5a6a13177713

It may be a regional thing.
