How do you uninstall windows xp media center edition that was installed over xp pro?

I would like to uninstall windows xp media center edition because I think it is slowing down my computer and making the computer unable to multitask.It has been installed over xp pro.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.

Hi KirkStratton,

You cannot uninstall Windows media center, it's an inherent part of the Operating System. You can stop the media center processes from running. After you have upgraded the only way you could go back to the previous version of Windows would be to perform a clean install.

Follow the steps:

a)    Open the "Start" menu, and click on "Control Panel."

b)    Click Add or remove programs. Click the "Select Program Access and Defaults."

c)    Click "Continue" and check the box "Custom" from the drop-down menu.

d)    Scroll down to the "Choose Default Media Player" section.

e)    Uncheck the box that reads "Enable Access to This Program" next to "Windows Media Center." Click OK.
