How do you fix an SSL client credential private key error code in event viewer

Hi Folks,

Hope someone can help. I currently use Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, updated with the latest updates from Microsoft.

I am getting the following error message, (every 5 minutes exactly) in the Computer Management, Administrative Events viewer.

"A fatal error occurred when attempting to access the SSL client credential private key. The error code returned from the cryptographic module is 0x8009030d. The internal error state is 10003"

It started back on Oct 14th 2014. There a now 40,000+ error codes from this issue.

A sample of the log data is as follows;

Log Name:      System

I have looked at all the suggestions online, and have found nothing that is specific to this issue for windows 7, and how to resolve it. I would be grateful if someone could walk me through how to resolve the issue.

Thanks in advance.

Answer

Dear Isha,

Thanks for your follow up. After spending a significant amount of time on the issue, I just stopped using the Home Group function, which cures the numerous error codes. It is redundant to a standard network configuration, and not worth the trouble. Since Windows 10 does away with the Home Group function, I am not sure that I need to spend time on it...

I also had also deleted the bad machine key, and related key info in the peer network directory, which seems to have resolved the issue.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Tom
