How do I transfer music from Windows Media Player onto my iPod Nano(5th.generation)?

Music library on iTunes ok but no buttons I can see to transfer to the iPod Nano.It is connected OK but stays on the computor only. When I try to transfer to Media Player(WMP 11- XP Home Edition) it says unable to transfer-try WMP 9 or higher(?). WMP asks to connect  the device when I try to snc.but it wont handshake at all and doesnt recognise the conection full stop. In the iTunes library and task bar there are NO buttons or greyed out areas to enable a download from computor to iPod Nano (5th.Generation) I have burnt part of the library to cd's but still cant see any way to transfer to iPod.so what can I do?

Follow these steps:

 

a)    Plug the iPod Nano into the computer using the Nano's USB cable.

b)    Click on the "Start" menu, select "All Programs" and choose "Windows Media Player."

c)    Click the "Sync" button on the menu. Windows Media Player shows the iPod Nano in the top right corner as the device to transfer music to.

d)    Click and drag files from the music library in the middle of the screen to the "Sync List" area on the right where it says "Drag items here." Drag songs individually or by entire albums or artists. Select specific songs from an album list by holding down the "CTRL" key while selecting songs and then dragging one of the highlighted items to the Sync List.

e)    Click the "Start Sync" button beneath the Sync List to start syncing. When the sync process finishes, disconnect the iPod Nano from the computer.

Thanks for your info.friend but I still cant get anything on my Windows Media Player that says anything other than 'connect a device' no matter what I try! When I disconnect then re-connect it still says the same. When I first connect my iPod  from a boot it de-faults to iTunes.If I go to 'My Computor' and look it states the iPod as 'Drive K'  then vanishes when it syncs. and goes onto iTunes.There are NO greyed out buttons to suggest 'Transfer'-Record-Transfer' or any other info to transfer from computor onto the iPod. My default player is Windows Media Player but it just will not recognise the device at all. It appears that the iTunes is purely a player/shop to purchase items.

Hello, friend. As I know, windows media player is not compatible with iPod Nano, you need to use iTunes sync music to your iPod Nano. If your songs are in windows media player, you can follow this guide to transfer the songs from windows media player to iTunes, and then sync the music to your iPod through iTunes.

My computer doesn't even acknowledge the fact that my iPod is connected. The screen of my iPod has the connected sign and says connected, but my Windows Media Player says connect a device when I try to sync it. Anybody?

You need to download and install iTunes, WMP does not work with ipods.

In doing research on the topic, I found that software can be downloaded to make the nano compatible with wmp ( I am dealing with the same issue). The page I was looking at mentioned that you need either wmp 11 or 12. I will keep you posted... in the process of finding the webpage now.
