How Do I Stream Music and Video From To Panasonic DMR-BW850 Blu Ray Recorder?

How Do I Stream/Play Music and Videos From My Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit) Laptop, On To My Panasonic DMR-BW850 Blu Ray Recorder?

I have linked the LAN to my WiFi, and I am able to get YOUTUBE, BLOOMBERG, PICASSO, but nothing else. Do I need to get an External Media Player, or would an External Hard Drive do, and if so could I still download music and movies on to the external hard drive?
