how do I make my pin as a default login.

Does anyone know how to set a pin as the default method of signing into windows 10. I am constantly being asked to use my password and then i click options and change it to pin and then it will revert back regularly.

Thank you,

Hi,

You may follow the steps below to make your PIN the default login to your device:

  1. Click the Start button, then type Settings.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Accounts, and select Sign-in options.
  4. Under PIN, click Add. Confirm your password when prompted.
  5. Set-up the desired PIN as required.

Make sure to delete the password if you just want the PIN to be enabled.

If you have further questions, feel free to ask us.

Regards.

I tried to do as you suggested, but, i do not see and option to remove the password. If I go to update the password it will not let me proceed without putting in a new password.

Thank you,

You should be able to leave the new password field empty.

Hi,

To help you with your concern about making the pin as a default login, please consider the following information.

If you are not able to remove the Password, it means that your default log in option is by PIN. If you want to enable logging in through your Password, click Remove under PIN. If you want to go back to logging in through your PIN all you have to do is to click Remove under Password. Re-start your computer for this to take effect.

Note:

Always keep track of your password and PIN that you have created to avoid inconvenience.

Should you need  further assistance, do not hesitate to post here.

Regards.

I empathize with the initial posters frustration in seeing that your last reply to him is completely unhelpful. He's asking to make the pin login the default option and you're advising him to remove the pin.  you may want to rethink your answer. Also Microsoft should look into this bug.  I see a few other posts with the same issue. We set the pin, we prefer it to be the default, but it often times reverts back to using the password.
