How do I get rid of "Weather updates and so much more"?

I start my computer and get, "Weather updates and so much more." I click no, and next time I start my computer, I get the same message. I already turned off 'News and interests.' What do I do now?

Hello Alex Perez tired of unwanted updates, welcome to the Microsoft community!

According to your feedback, you want to turn off windows weather update

1. First, click on the blank space on the taskbar below.

2. Move your mouse up to "Information and Interests" and you will see "Close" on the right side, click on it.

This should be due to the "Information and Interests" patch being installed.

I hope you find this information helpful!

Thank you for your reply. I thought I mentioned it, I have Windows 10, specifically 23H2 19045.4291. When I follow your directions, the closest I get is 'News and Interest.' When I get there, I already turned off that feature. In fact, I turned it off a couple of years ago. In fact, before the original post, I followed online instructions, and also checked the setting thru 'Settings.'

Is there somewhere else to check. Please advice. If needed, I'd be glad to remove the whole update if needed.

The following should help:

First, disable Tips/suggestions on the Lock screen, an option in Windows.

  • Go to Settings Personalisation > Lock Screen.

  • Uncheck “Get fun facts, tips, tricks and more on your Lock screen.

Disable ads in Windows - Your Windows Guide

I have done both of the moderators' suggestions and I am still having this problem. "Weather updates and so much more" won't go away. It is very annoying. Here are my Windows specifications:

Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 22H2
Installed on ‎2021-‎01-‎13
OS build 19045.4291
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19056.1000.0

Next step, Joe. It's been a while since I used Windows 10 so there can be a miss.

Please download this free and open source app from Microsoft Store

You can also try the following

Press the [Win+R] key combination on your keyboard to open the Run box, type [wusa /uninstall /kb:5003214], and then tap OK.

Uninstall the KB5003214 patch according to the prompts, then type [wusa /uninstall /kb:5003637], click OK, and then uninstall the KB5003637 patch.

After the uninstallation, restart your computer, so that Microsoft's background push "weather, information and interest" pop-up program has been completely removed.

I hope the above information is helpful to you!

I don't speak English very well, I'm Chinese and still learning English.

Please correct me if I made mistakes in grammar or vocabulary.

You can post a better answer to help other people if you are a native speaker or good at English.

I'm using the Chinese language version of Windows 10, so maybe there's something different.

I found the executable with a little tool and got the folder of it.

C:\Windows\SystemApps\ShellExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy\ShellExperienceHost.exe

Because of the "cw5n1h2txyewy", maybe you can't find it directly, so just try to search for ShellExperienceHost.exe.

I think I can delete this folder at that time, but I guess Windows 10 will try to install it again... so I decided to disable this folder.

1. Right-click on the folder and go to Properties.

2. click on the Security tab and head over to Advanced.

3. Click Change to proceed further.

4. Enter the name of the username you wish to grant Trustedinstaller permissions to and click Check Names. Once the username is shown, click OK.(I recommend the Administrator user)

5. Check Replace owner on subcontainers or objects and click Apply, followed by Ok.

6. Click the Edit button to change permissions.

7. Set all the Group's permission of the list to Deny in Full control.

8. Click the OK button.

9. check you can't open this folder, and show a message box like this... (You don't currently have permission to access this folder)

P.S

1. Warning: I'm not sure you can resolve this problem if you did this, I haven't tried it worked yet...

2. I think Microsoft Store makes this issue, there's something auto-updated...

Hello,

I think I figured this out from the above instruction. I also have Windows 10. So follow the above from Settings to Lock screen. While on Lock screen go to: Choose one app to show detailed status on the lock screen. There you should see your weather update icon that is causing this problem. Click on that and you see options to choose other icons. Well, at the very top of those selections you will see None. Clicking on that means you choose no icon. And that should do it. Good luck..
