Hi Catherine,

1.  Which Registry key are you trying to edit?

2.  Which Program is trying to access Registry?

Editing or Modifying Registry may cause the computer to stop booting or some options will be disabled, If you trust the progrtam, I would suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

a) Go to Start and type regedit in the search box and open it.

b) Locate the the registry key and right click on it.

c) Click on Permissions, and under Security tab, click on Advanced.

d) In the Advanced window, under Permissions tab, click on Add.

e) Type Everyone in the newly opened windows and click OK.

f)  Set the permission as full control and click OK.

g) Under the Permissions tab, check for any deny option.

h) If there is any deny permission option is there, set the particular deny option and click on Remove.

To do so: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
