How do I copy my photos to a Flash drive

I have just purchased a new laptop so want to copy my photos from my old laptop to the new one. I clicked copy all to cd but when I inserted  cd it said there was not enough space. So I bought a Flash drive but cannot see how to copy the photos to it . There is only the option to copy to cd.

Moved from Windows XP to Windows 10.

Answer
Answer
  1. Insert the flash drive.
  2. Open the folder with the photos.
  3. Single click on one photo to highlight it.
  4. Ctrl+A will highlight them all.
  5. Left click on the mass of photos and drag them to the flash drive.

==========================================

Something to try.....

When inserted in a USB port...the Flash Drive should
be recognized at...Start / Computer...with a drive letter.

Possible Example:

Removable Disk (:F)

In Windows Live Photo Gallery...right click a thumbnail
or a selected group of thumbnails and from the menu...
choose...Copy.

Then go to...Start / Computer...right click the drive letter
that represents your Flash Drive and from the menu...
choose..."Paste".

==

If you go directly to your Pictures folder to transfer the
files...when you right click the selected (highlighted)
thumbs or a complete folder...the menu will have an
option to 'Send To' and you can choose the drive letter
of the Flash Drive.

If you are receiving an error that states:

"Cannot copy XXXX: The directory or file cannot be created"

This occurs when too many files are added to the root
directory...the solution is to create folders to copy the
photos into.

(FWIW...you may need to remove a photo from the flash drive
to make room for the folder)
