how do i change the com port from com3 to com4 in device manager on W7 prof?

I am attempting to connect a bluetooth GPS to my netbook with is running Win7 Prof.  The device wants to use com port 3 and windows wants to use com port  4.  Can someone tell me how to change the com port from 3 to 4?

Hi,

Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

I would suggest you to change the default COM port to COM 4 and check if it works:

a.     Type "devmgmt.msc" in device manager and press enter.

b.     Expand Ports (COM & LPT).

c.      Right click on the "Communication ports"

d.     Under Port Settings tab, click on Advance.

e.     Change the COM Port number to COM 4.

f.       Click OK.
