How can I STOP using Microsoft as my payment gateway for online purchases?

Hi Customer Service,

I want to CANCEL / STOP using Microsoft as my payment gateway for online purchases. I do not want Microsoft to automatically manage my payment options or have anything to do with my payment service. Please provide specific instructions to keep Microsoft from interfering with any online payment unless it is a Microsoft product.

What are you referring to exactly when you talk about “payment gateway” ? Are you referring to Microsoft Edge's ability to autofill credit card numbers ?
If so, just enter " edge://wallet/settings " in your address bar and press the “Enter” key on your keyboard.
You'll land on the Wallet settings of Microsoft Edge. From there, disable these two options : “Save and fill payment info” and “Show Express checkout on sites when you shop”. Edge will no longer offer to automatically fill in credit card numbers.

I am attempting an in-game purchase for an online game. When I click the in-game purchase, Microsoft takes over to process the payment which I do not want. And, when I click pay with Microsoft, I get this error / trouble processing message. The credit card is valid, not expired, everything is perfect. No bank issues, I checked. The same credit card has processed several in-game purchases via Microsoft already. I do not want Microsoft to process any of my online purchases. Please advise how to stop this.

P.S. I also went to "edge://wallet/settings" then turned off every button and removed all credit cards. Yet, when I returned to my in-game purchase again I get this same Microsoft trouble processing message.

What game are you playing exactly ? The screenshot you're showing me is the interface used by Xbox games to make integrated purchases: DLC, points or in-game currency…
If the game you're playing uses the Microsoft system for in-game payments, you can't use any other service. If your game is available on another PC platform (Steam, EA, GOG...), you'll need to use this one.
For the error displayed in your screenshot, you'll need to contact Microsoft support to find out more. As an independent advisor, I do not have access to payment information.
