How can I permanently disable or remove Windows Defender on Windows 10.

Before you answer, please know that I do not want any recommendations about disabling it or that it is a bad idea. I do not care and I simply want to disable it. If you are not telling me how to disable it please do not answer.

I am simply looking for a way to permanently disable or remove Windows Defender. It constantly gets in the way of me trying to do things on my PC and it is very frustrating to not have full control over my computer. When I disable real time protection it will eventually turn on again without my input. I have my own way of securing my computer and if my computer is compromised it is my own fault.

Hi, 'a'a'a'_

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry that Windows Defender has been causing you trouble. If you want to disable Windows Defender, you can try the following methods:

Method 1: Registry Editor (Applies to all versions of Windows 10)

  1. Press Win + R to open the "Run" dialog, type regedit, and press Enter.

  2. In the Registry Editor window, navigate to the following key: If the Windows Defender key does not exist, you will need to create it. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender

  3. Right-click on the Windows Defender key, select "New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value," and name it DisableAntiSpyware.

  4. Double-click on DisableAntiSpyware, set the "Value data" to 1, and click OK.

  5. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.

Disclaimer: Generally, modifying registry subkeys or work group is intended for advanced users, administrators, and IT Professionals. It can help fix some problems, however, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For further protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click How to back up and restore the registry in Windows - Microsoft Support to view the article.

Method 2: Security Center Service (Applies to all versions of Windows 10)

  1. Press Win + R to open the "Run" dialog, type services.msc, and press Enter.

  2. In the "Services" window, find and double-click on "Security Center" (or "Windows Defender Security Center" in newer versions).

  3. In the "Properties" window, set the "Startup type" to "Disabled," then click "Apply" and "OK."

  4. Restart your computer to apply the changes.

Sincerely

Absolutely wild that you offered 2 ways that don't work. It's almost like this malware was built in a way that it can't be disabled because it does other things besides "protect" us.

I am having the problem that this junk freezes my computer. The real-time protection. If you write that key in the registry, next time you turn on your computer, the tyrants at Microsoft have replaced your registry, erasing that key. They also reset the group policy, which should NEVER happen. I SET THE GROUP POLICIES FOR MY COMPUTER. Giving us the illusion of choice is still being a tyrant. Hijacking MY COMPUTER is definitely being a tyrant.

Defender is at best malware and at worst a virus itself, as are the Windows Updates. These computers belong to us, not Microsoft. If we do not want their service, we have every right to disable them, including the HORRID updates that crash or cause instability in our systems.

Your real-time protection is freezing my PC randomly, and turns itself back on, like a virus.

People, do not ask Microsoft about disabling Windows Defender, they will NOT tell you. It is obvious, they want full control of your computer. Just type: "Permanently disabling Windows 11 Defender" in Google. You will find several guides that work perfectly. This is what I did over a year ago and got that defender **** off my computer.

Then I suggest you abandon Windows and install GNU/Linux. Easy solution.
