Hovering mouse over folder does not open it in file explorer

I have a problem with file explorer on windows 10 following the recent update. While drag and dropping a file into a folder, hovering over a folder no longer opens the folder to allow for direct placement into a subfolder. Any solution appreciated.

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

A folder cannot be opened unless you click/double click or select and press the enter key. However, while dragging a file or a folder in file explorer, if you hover the mouse over the target folder in the left pane (the navigation pane), it should expand the folder to show its contents (Subfolders, files).

If folders do not expand in the navigation pane, click on the View menu item at the top left corner of the explorer window, click on Options submenu item in the ribbon and choose Change folder and search options which should open the Folder Options window.

Click on the View tab of Folder Options window.

Scroll down and check the checkbox for Expand to open folder under Navigation pane.

Hope it helps.
