Hotmail will not sync in Windows Live Mail

Windows Live Mail was working fine and then all of a sudden it stopped syncing emails from Hotmail. It has continued to correctly sync (send and receive mail) for my other accounts. When I try to sync my hotmail account I get the following error message:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (alexsmookler) account.

Server Error: 0x800488EB
Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800488EB

I have tried deleting the account and re-adding it and then I get this message:

Windows Live Mail is synchronizing this account. Check back in a few minutes to read your messages.

I keep checking back but nothing changes. My emails do not come in and this message continues to be displayed.

I have also tried "repairing" Windows Live Mail via the control panel on my computer. This did not do anything to help the problem.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Note: If there's a needed update indicated, please install the available update.

2. Repair Windows Live Mail:

   b. Go to Control Panel then click Programs.

   c. Click Programs and Features.

   d. Right click Windows Live Essentials 2011 then click Uninstall/Change.

   e. Select Repair all Windows Live programs in the dialog box.

   f. After the repair is done, reboot when asked.

I just uninstalled Windows Live Mail and then re-installed it and I still cannot receive my emails. I am getting the same error message as before:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (alexsmookler) account.

Server Error: 0x800488EB
Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800488EB

This is extremely frustrating. What else can I try?

What version of Windows are you using?

Logon to your account in the web interface and ensure you have not enabled SSL for that Live ID Hotmail account

  Connect with HTTPS

 - Check ' Don't use HTTPS automatically'

If not checked, uncheck the option

Sorry, It's been in effect since 2011

Originally you could use the link I provided and the option was seen once you logged in.  Now there's no need to opt in.

Tools > Internet Options > Connections Tab

Click Lan Button

Uncheck Automatically Detect Settings

Click Apply, Ok

Uncheck Remember Password

Open WLM

Select Account > Properties

Select Server Tab

Uncheck Remember Password

Click Apply, Ok

Retry syncing

Hi

It could be due to some proxy server setting. You might have connected to the wireless some place that required you to change that and now you may have forgot to put the setting back to its default.

Go to

Control Panel->Internet Options->Connections->LAN Settings

Make sure proxy is not clicked. In fact, you don't need to have anything clicked there.

Let us know if this fixes your problem.

I tried this in desperation as my own post remains unresolved [see above ]Server Error: 4402 Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8DE00002

I have to say that were it not for the additional pain of losing my contacts and links to a thousand and one other websites I would be tempted to unistall the Windows Live Mail PERMANENTLY.

You can export/import contacts

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/mail-import-backup-restore

And the same may be done with Favorites

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211089/en-us

Try adding a new account using the same credentials you used with this account.  Verify if the account has synced.  If it has, delete the old account. See corrupted user profile below
