HID-compliant touchscreen greyed out

Windows 10 21H2 touchscreen stopped working

So a couple of hours ago I was just on my computer using the touchscreen and all of a sudden it stopped working. I have been following steps to try and sort this for a while, for a bit I couldn't find the driver in the device manager but I've turned on show hidden drivers and its there, its just greyed out. there is no option to enable it, and when I go to its properties it says code 45 and that its disconnected.

Fully no idea what happened or why it stopped working. i was literally just sat using it in the same way I always do and have done for over a year.

Please help

Hi, I’m Vinay. Thanks for reaching out.

I’m here to help you today.

1. Open command prompt as an administrator by clicking Win + S - search for Command Prompt - Right click on it and click on Run as administrator .

Run below command

msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic

Next, follow on screen instructions to finish running Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

2. Reinstall Touchscreen drivers :

a. Press win + X to open Device Manager and Open it
b. Expand Human Interface Devices, and select your HID-compliant touchscreen drivers then right click on them and click on Uninstall device .
c. Restart Laptop to re-install drivers automatically

3. If it still not working then visit the manufacturer website and download the latest touchscreen drivers then install them.

Please let me know how it goes !

Vinay
