HID-compliant touch screen drive missing | Touch screen not functioning

When I updated my HP Spectre 13 to Windows 11 last year, the touch screen stopped working. I just dealt with it for a while, but I'm really frustrated that I can't seem to fix it. I took it to the Geek Squad, who just ended up scratching their heads. I've done an operating system reset and nothing has helped. The HID-compliant touch screen drive is completely missing from my Device Manager and there seems to be nothing I can do to download and install it again. I've looked for it and can't find it. tried everything I can find and none of it works if the HID-compliant touch screen driver isn't there! Help?

Hello Surelee,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

According to your description, your device is HP Spectre 13. I have searched HP's driver website for you.

Usually, the touch screen does not work, most likely because there is no corresponding driver support. I tried to search for the driver on HP's driver website, but unfortunately I could not find the Windows 11 version of the driver. Many models of devices only have Windows 7/8/10 driver versions.

Since the drivers are not provided by Microsoft, if you want to use touch screen in Windows 11, you will need to report your requirements to HP After-Sales Support. However, if they say they don't have a driver for Windows 11, your device doesn't support touch in Windows 11. At present, if you want to return to the Windows 10 system, I am sorry that you can only reinstall the system. If you need, I can provide you with the steps of reinstalling the system later.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

The following steps describe how to reinstall Windows10:

  1. Visit Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com) and click "Download Now" under the "Create Windows 10 installation media" to download MCT (Media Creation Tool).

Image

  1. Run the MCT, select "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD or ISO file) for another PC”, and then choose Language, Version, Architecture (if you are not sure about these, choose "Use the recommended options for this PC"), then select "USB flash drive" in the "Select Media to Use" interface, then make a boot disk.

  2. Then boot from the USB flash drive, and execute the installation program.

And you can accessHow to: Perform a Clean Install or Reinstall of Windows 10 - Microsoft Communityfor specific installation steps.
