Dear Alexs,

Hello! Welcome to the Microsoft Community. I'm glad to be able to assist you. If I misunderstand your question, please let me know promptly.

I understand that you are experiencing lags and freezes when using your computer. I understand the trouble this problem causes you, and I will try my best to help you solve it.

Have you made any changes recently? For example, updating the system, downloading software, updating hardware, etc.? This may be related to the system, software and hardware. Try the following steps to see if it helps you:

-Update drivers, mainly for graphics cards and chipsets. Go to the driver download website provided by your notebook manufacturer (BIOS manufacturer for desktop computers), find the driver corresponding to your computer model and download and install it. If possible, we recommend that you use DDU uninstall tool to completely uninstall the old driver first, and then install the latest driver. I understand your drivers are up to date, if you have done that already, just disregard it.

-If you started to appear in this situation after the update, it may be that the latest update is incompatible with your device. You can perform system restore, open the control panel, select "Restore", select "Open System Restore", and then you may choose a system restore point. System restore can reset your computer to the state of system restore point.

If you don't have a system restore point, you can consider uninstalling the latest update in Settings, Windows Update and Update History. You are free to view the latest updates and uninstall them.

-Try a clean startup to eliminate the influence of third-party software and services to confirm the true scope of the problem.

Clean startup, try to use clean startup, and check whether the problem still appears after eliminating the influence of third-party soft armor and services. If the problem is solved, you can follow the steps of clean startup to find the problematic software.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

Disclaimer: A “clean boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step so that it will help you get you back on track.

- Check the temperature of your graphics card (GPU) and processor (CPU). Sometimes the system may become stuck due to high temperature. If you have overclocking turned on, try turning them off.

- Have you noticed that the stuck and frozen are random? If so, try running in safe mode for a long enough time to see if it still happens.

Use safe boot to see if the problem persists. To start in safe mode, hold down the power off and restart three times or restart while holding down Shift. You will enter the Windows Recovery Environment. There you can find Troubleshooting>Advanced options>Startup settings>Select safe mode startup.

- If it only happens when running games, try unplugging or plugging your graphics card. This may be a problem with the graphics card or static electricity.

I hope the above information is helpful. Feel free to let me know if you make any progress.

Best Wishes
