Headset microphone not detected by computer

I have been using a Razer Blackshark V2 X for a while and it has been working fine. Recently though it has been having the problem of the computer not detecting the headset's microphone at all. I have looked and general and specific instructions on how to fix this but nothing I have done is working. As far as I know, nothing about the headset has changed and its audio (and hopefully) still works fine. I don't know when this happened or how.

A short list of things I have tried: Checking system input, checking the Contol Pannel sound area, (It says the mic is not plugged in, but the headset only has one cord and it is plugged in and works for audio) updating the drivers in device manager, (the specific one for the mic does not appear) and uninstalling/redownloading Razer Synapse.

Please let me know if you have encountered this problem with this device or a device similar and how you fixed it. Thank you in advance!

Hi, I’m Nicole, an independent advisor and a Windows user like you. I’ll be happy to help you out today.

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I will try my best to assist you with this so that you find a satisfactory solution.

May I know first if you are using a desktop or laptop?

If you are using a desktop computer, you might need to use the splitter cable that is included on the Headset and then try to plug it into the rear ports of the Desktop computer. Make sure to use the Mic in port and Line out port ( usually colored pink for the mic and green for line out ).

If you are using a laptop, kindly verify if you have two ports or a single combo port.

Thank you,

Nicole.

Thank you for the response, Nicole. I am using a laptop with a single port. The exact laptop is a 'Dell G3 15 Gaming Laptop'. I hope this helps and thank you for inquiring about this.

Thank you for verifying.

Now did you already check if the Microphone is visible when you expand audio inputs and outputs in the device manager?

Also, is there no firmware update when you open the synapse app?

Also, expand system devices and check if there is no entry there with a yellow triangle icon on it.

If any part of the realtek audio driver or the realtek audio console app or the waves apps or the dell audio app is not functional, then this problem will occur.

I've already checked and the headset is there, but there is no separate one of the headset microphone. There is no firmware update for Synapse and I see no yellow triangles in the System Devices.

Okay, try to check if there are multiple entries of the headset driver in the device manager. Click view in the device manager then click show hidden devices. If there are multiple entries of the headset driver, delete all of them then unplug the headset from the laptop then restart the laptop. After the restart, plug the headset in again and let Windows reinstall its drivers. After that, test the headset audio and mic.

Alright, there was a hidden one and I've done what you said, but it doesn't seem to have worked. The sound area under Control Pannel still says the microphone is unplugged. (The headphones still work with sound)

Thank you for verifying. Did you already uninstall Realtek audio in Device manager? You can do that and then manually reinstall it using the provided driver on the laptop manufacturer support website.
