Having problems using WSL gui apps and GPU related stuff.

I have just installed and updated my WSL2. I am using windows 11 and i was just going through the documentation provided. Despite doing the same exact things i am gettin various errors and disfunctionalities.
I have installed Ubuntu-24.04 distro and update&upgraded it properly. Afterwards i was trying to test the gui apps like nautilus or blender. When trying to launch blender it instantly crashes. And nautilus on the other hand gives these errors:

** Message: 01:56:03.983: Connecting to org.freedesktop.Tracker3.Miner.Files

libEGL warning: DRI3: Screen seems not DRI3 capable

libEGL warning: DRI3: Screen seems not DRI3 capable

MESA: error: ZINK: failed to choose pdev

libEGL warning: egl: failed to create dri2 screen

These mesa and ZINK errors appear almost on any gui app and i am having problems launching them.

I have been going through all the issues on the internet and so far none of them worked.
I have Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050 GPU and i have freshly formatted my pc for eliminating the problems that my actions could have caused. I have installed the latest drivers and still got nowhere.
At some point i have got it working but when i checked which hardware it was using it said llvmpipe not my gpu.

Hello,TheBayar

Welcome to posting in the Microsoft Community.

I understand your feelings very well, and thank you for elaborating on the problem in detail. From your description, it can be seen that the problem may indeed stem from the configuration problem of the WSL environment, and involves the compatibility configuration of Ubuntu and GPU drivers. This is a problem that crosses the configuration of WSL and Ubuntu. Your error message (DRI3: Screen seems not DRI3 capable) indicates that the graphics hardware Direct Rendering Infrastructure in the WSLg environment is not correctly activated. This situation may be caused by lack of driver support or incorrect settings in most cases.

For specific solutions, I suggest that you go to the section specially opened by Microsoft for WSL and Ubuntu issues. The experts there will provide targeted technical support for dual-system users. I hope to provide you with more clues there. Because the section is cumbersome, I will directly locate you to the supported location, please click:

I had this same issue (Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS, Windows 11, WSL 2.4.11.0), and resolved it by installing libGLESv2.so.2. I still got those warnings, but the app opened a new window as expected. To install that library, run the following command on Linux:

sudo apt install libgles2
