Grey Screen at Logon with Windows 7

Recent  issue with  7 upon startup  tried to  boot but screen is subdued and  eventually  comes up  grey with opaque lines  and anomalies .. 

Requiring a hard shut down {with no commands available}   it will reopen with  windows safety boot options..

I have used recovery thrice  and computer has  also attempted to  use recovery -  it then boots  fine until the next time

When it does boot - every thing is normal and login  is  as usual.. afraid I am damagin   my  hard drive with this continuing and  requiring more times  with a hard boot..   help..

1.    Have you made any recent changes on the computer?

2.    When was the last time it was working fine?

3.    Does the issue occur at every restart?

I would suggest that you perform startup repair using the Windows 7 installation DVD and check if the issue persists.

Method 2

If the above step fails then I would suggest that you install the latest display adapter drivers on the computer by visiting the adapter manufacturer or the computer manufacturer website and check if the issue persists.
