Gmail emails not showing in sent items

Recently I noticed that sent items from my personal (gmail) account had stopped showing in the sent folder even though they were being received by the recipient.  This is only an issue with my gmail account, not my work account.  I reset the app and added my gmail account and the problem persisted.  I uninstalled the app and added my gmail account and the problem still persists.  Strangely, if I send an email from the gmail website the sent item shows in the mail app.  Any help appreciated.

Hi EVERY, This is Ken F. One of the Individual Advisor and a fellow user. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. May I ask what specific Mail Application are you using? Since you mentioned that the sent items are reflecting if you send feom webmail, then the issue most probably, is happening in the Mail Application. You might have incorporated specific rules that will alter your sent items folder. Also may I ask what is the Operating system that you're using? Is that a PC or a Mac?

Assuming you're working with Outlook on PC, you may check this article to see how you can manage rules.

Okay. If you're using Windows 10, then you may follow the article that I posted to manage where your sent items will be saved. Also can you check whether you're running POP or IMAP Account?

To check that, you can click on File >> Account Settings and then it will show either you're using POP or IMAP or maybe an Exchange. So that we can determine how to proceed.

If that doesn't work for you, you may also try re-setting up your email using a different profile in Outlook by following this link:

Hi MemoryGates, I'm using Mail for Windows 10, not Outlook.

For Mail on Windows 10, then you have to go to Settings on the Lower Left hand corner, then click on Manage Account >> Then your Gmail.com Account >> Change Mailbox Sync Settings >> Under Sync options, make sure that Emails are turned on. Since it is not Outlook, troubleshooting steps that I can give you might be limited since the application itself don't have much options to play around with.

You mentioned also earlier that you've done resetting the app. Is this how you reset it?
To reset an app’s data, open the Settings app from your Start menu. Head to System > Apps & Features.
Locate the app you want to reset in the list of installed apps and click or tap it. Click the “Advanced Options” link under the application’s name.

Click or tap the “Reset” button to reset an app’s settings.

You’ll have to click a second “Reset” button to confirm you want to clear the app’s data.

Hi MemoryGates, the sync setting are all fine.  As you say, there's limited things to change with the app so that why it's so perplexing.  Yes, I reset the app using the method you describe.  I have even uninstalled and reinstalled the app through PowerShell.

That's pretty much what I can share with you regarding the troubleshooting steps on your Mail App. But what puzzles me here is why it isn't showing your Sent Items wherein, I tried setting it up on my computer with Gmail Account, it was set as IMAP and downloaded my Sent items for the last 3 months (Which was an option to choose. I can download all of my sent items but I kept it that way for the meantime). There might be corruption happening in the background particularly on the Mail App or the Windows Profile itself. Another way to check whether it's an issue within the application is to create another Administrator/User for your computer and try resetting up your email using the Windows 10 Mail App of the New Administrator. Have you installed any updates on your computer prior that issue happened? Sometimes update may affect the pre-installed the applications on the computer including Mail App.

I have a similar problem, where emails 'sent' using Windows Mail  (Version 16005.12827.20400.0) do not appear as sent when I check my Gmail account ...

this has only recently started happening.

if I check my Gmail account at https://mail.google.com/,  I discover that the missing email has been classed as Spam ...

marking it as Not Spam results in it being sent.

So something MS has done has obviously changed its relationship with Gmail, and not in a good way. Either they've changed Mail or it's some new update to the O/S (1903 Build 18362.900)

hey ho

John

Thanks MemoryGates, I have logged the problem on MS hub.

So I check my account settings in Windows Mail.

When I click on Accounts I see an entry for my Gmail account - for that Email setting is On, but also a second one called Outlook, which uses the gmail account details. for that one (which I don't recall creating) the Emnail setting was Off. So have set it to On and will see what transpires.
