Games crashing regularly

Hi everyone.

I recently built a new PC using some parts from an old PC and some new parts. Since I built this PC I've ran into numerous issues with games like Borderlands 3 and The Outer Worlds which both crash randomly, sometimes to desktop and sometimes the whole screen goes black. My first thought is an issue with the GPU but before I send it back I would like to confirm if this is the case and that it isn't the CPU/RAM or anything else.

I have already tried a couple of things to resolve this. I uninstalled the GPU driver, ran a DDU to remove it fully and then installed the latest one. I have also tried completely resetting Windows 10 in the hopes that one of these would solve my issue and I still get the crashes.

If someone would be able to assist me in understanding this, and identifying which hardware has failed, I would greatly appreciate it.

Using the reliability history app after my most recent crash I got the following information.

Hi Luke,
often this error is caused by minor hardware incompatibilities.
Please check system journal (Event Viewer) for possible errors at these moments, especially Kernel-Power errors. DistributedCOM errors should be ignored.

Hi Igor,

Thanks for the quick response.

Looking at Event Viewer under the system logs, at 21:11 there were two warnings within a couple of seconds which said the following.

"Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered.".

This was at the same time as the crash happened.

From googling this message, some people suggest an unstable overclock. I can rule that out as I haven't overclocked anything on the PC.

I don't believe it's a driver issue as I uninstalled and used a DDU to completely remove the driver before doing a fresh install of the most recent recommended AMD driver. Would this suggest there is an issue with the GPU and that I should contact the vendor to get a replacement?

Please remove drivers entirely using AMD Cleanup Utility than install drivers from Windows update. If there will be problems still contact the vendor.
